About This D-Shaped Rubber Seal

D-shaped EPDM Sponge Rubber Seal, with a height of .500" and a width of .500".

Trim-Lok’s D-Profile Rubber Seal (Series 101) provides the ultimate bond between the rubber and its substrate. Learn more about this D-shaped EPDM rubber seal’s half-round shape, adhesive, specs, installation, and more below.

Benefits of Rubber Weatherstripping

D-shaped seals can be used as rubber weatherstripping to seal out:
  • • Air leaks
  • • Moisture
  • • Dirt and debris

EPDM Rubber Seal Applications

These half-round sponge rubber seals also provide vibration reduction and some noise cancellation. They’re recommended for use between two substrates such as:

  • • Doors (house, garage, auto, RV, etc.)
  • • Car trunks
  • • Windows
  • • Hatches
  • • Electrical enclosures
  • • Coolers
  • • And more

When used as a self-adhesive door seal, D-shaped EPDM rubber seals can fill in gaps on doors and lids where the gap may vary in size. For optimal performance, remember to choose the D-shaped weatherstripping rubber seal in a size that will provide 25–-40% compression for your application.

3M™ BONDED TAPE SYSTEM
The 3M Bonded Tape System enables you to achieve the ultimate bond to the rubber and the ultimate bond to the substrate. This tape option creates a moisture barrier and air-
tight seal. With the highest peel-and-sheer resistance, the 3M Bonded Tape System can be used  under high loads of stress and force. It has low initial tack for easy repositioning during installation and needs 72 hours of cure time to come to full-bond strength. It is rated for good heat performance between -20°F to 158°F.

3M™ Heat-Activated Acrylic Foam and Acrylic Plus Tape Application Guidelines

STANDARD PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE
The Standard Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive option for your seal is an acrylic-based adhesive. It works best when used to hold the seal in place while installing in a static application or when it’s compressed between two stationary objects. It may be used in some light-duty dynamic applications against a variety of substrates. It is rated for good heat performance between -20°F to 158°F. Please note: During installation, ambient temperature must be above 60°F.

Adhesive Options "BT" Pressure Sensitive Adhesive: This 3M acrylic, automotive-grade tape creates the ultimate bond to the rubber and the ultimate bond to the substrate. It creates a moisture barrier and airtight seal between rubber and substrate. With the highest peel and shear resistance, it can be used under high loads of stress and force. It has low initial tack for easy repositioning during installation and needs 72 hours of cure time to come to full-bond strength. It is rated for good heat performance from -20° F to 158° F.

"HT" Pressure Sensitive Adhesive: This acrylic-based adhesive is best used to hold the rubber seal in place while installing it in a static application or compressed between two stationary objects. It may be used in some light-duty dynamic applications against a variety of substrates. It is rated for good heat performance from -20° F to 158° F.
