About This D-Shaped Weatherstripping

This D-shaped rubber seal has a height of .190" and a width of .500". It provides the ultimate bond between the rubber and its substrate. Learn more about this D-shaped EPDM sponge rubber seal’s half-round shape, adhesive, specs, installation and more below.

D-Shaped Gasket Applications

D-shaped weatherstripping can be used to seal out:

  • Creates a watertight seal
  • Air leaks
  • Moisture
  • Dirt and debris

Rubber weatherstripping also helps to reduce vibration and provides some noise cancellation. It’s recommended for use between two substrates such as:

  • Doors (house, garage, auto, RV, etc.)
  • Car trunks
  • Windows
  • Hatches
  • Electrical enclosures
  • Coolers
  • And more

Rubber Weatherstripping Compression

Where gaps may vary in size on doors and lids, a D-shaped gasket can fill, seal and protect. Remember to choose the half-round rubber seal that will provide 25–40% compression for your application, with 25% optimal for maximum performance.

3M™ BONDED TAPE SYSTEM
The 3M Bonded Tape System enables you to achieve the ultimate bond to the rubber and the ultimate bond to the substrate. This tape option creates a moisture barrier and air-tight seal. With the highest peel-and-sheer resistance, the 3M Bonded Tape System can be used under high loads of stress and force. It has low initial tack for easy repositioning during installation and needs 72 hours of cure time to come to full-bond strength. It is rated for good heat performance between -20°F to 158°F.

STANDARD PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE
The Standard Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive option for your seal is an acrylic-based adhesive. It works best when used to hold the seal in place while installing in a static application or when it’s compressed between two stationary objects. It may be used in some light-duty dynamic applications against a variety of substrates. It is rated for good heat performance between -20°F to 158°F. Please note: During installation, the ambient temperature must be above 60°F.
